Monterrey Twin Towers

The Monterrey Twin Towers were created as a testament to Bercy Chen’s growing presence in Mexico. Designed as an extension of the surrounding environment the Monterrey Twin Towers were born out of the powerful mountains that span the region. Moreover, the striated texture of the mountain ranges inspires architectural molding and articulation.

The relationship between the two towers responds to the unique geological and cultural nexus of North America. Similar to how the Santa Catarina River bisects the “cerros,” a bridge forms an exuberant gateway connecting the two dynamic towers; one residential and one mixed-use. The bridge connects the people of Monterrey to fresh views of el Cerro de la Silla towards the East and el Cerro de las Mitras to the West, intensifying the visual experience with reflective materials.

Through subtle folding of the façades, the towers are designed to have different appearances from all angles in response to Huasteca Canyon and Horsetail Falls. Furthermore, the vertical forms of Cañón de la Huasteca are abstracted into the building skin. Such influences shape the new landmark building as a prominent juncture in the Monterrey cityscape.
